Switching to Remote Access via Thread

The Smart Lock offers different options for remote access. We recommend using Thread for stable and energy-efficient remote access. Thread not only makes your Smart Home more stable but is also more energy-efficient than the connection via the Wi-Fi module. This results in a longer battery life for your Smart Lock.

The Smart Lock offers different options for remote access. We recommend using Thread for stable and energy-efficient remote access. Smart Lock Ultra, Smart Lock Pro

You can bring your Smart Lock Ultra or Pro online using the built-in Wi-Fi module or Thread.

Initial Setup

Remote Access via Thread will be included when your Smart Lock arrives.
As soon as you activate Matter, Remote Access is enabled, allowing you to control your Smart Lock remotely. Your Smart Lock uses the Thread connection with the Smart Home hub to ensure remote access.

Setup with activated built-in Wi-Fi module

If you previously activated the built-in Wi-Fi module, it will be automatically deactivated as soon as Remote Access via Thread is available.
Does your Smart Lock continue to establish remote access through the Wi-Fi module? Check whether your smart home hub supports remote access via Thread.

Smart Lock Go

You can activate Remote Access through a one-time payment (€ 49,00). After activation, you can bring your Smart Lock Go online using the built-in Wi-Fi module or Thread.

Initial Setup

After activating Remote Access, your Smart Lock is immediately reachable from afar without additional steps. Your Smart Lock uses the Thread connection with the Smart Home hub to ensure remote access.

Setup with activated built-in Wi-Fi module

If you previously activated the built-in Wi-Fi module, it will be automatically deactivated as soon as Remote Access via Thread is available.

Smart Lock Pro (4th Generation)

You can bring your Smart Lock Pro (4th Generation) online using the built-in Wi-Fi module, the Bridge or Thread.

Initial Setup

Remote Access via Thread will be included when your Smart Lock arrives.
As soon as you activate Matter, Remote Access is enabled, allowing you to control your Smart Lock remotely. Your Smart Lock uses the Thread connection with the Smart Home hub to ensure remote access.

Setup with activated built-in Wi-Fi module

If you previously activated the built-in Wi-Fi module, it will be automatically deactivated as soon as Remote Access via Thread is available.

Setup with connected Bridge

If your Smart Lock is connected to a Bridge, Remote Access via Thread is not activated automatically. You can delete the existing Bridge connection via the Matter overview screen in your Nuki App.

  1. Open the ”Settings” of your Smart Lock in the Nuki App.
  2. Then select ”Features & Configuration” > ”Smart Home”.
  3. Click on ”Matter” and choose the option ”Delete Bridge connection”.

Once you have deleted the existing Bridge connection in the Nuki App, you can use Remote Access via Thread.

Smart Lock standard variant (4th Generation)

The standard variant of the Smart Lock does not have a built-in Wi-Fi module. To control the Smart Lock remotely, you need the Bridge or Remote Access via Thread.
You can activate Remote Access via Thread through a one-time payment (€ 49,00).

Initial Setup

After activating Remote Access, your Smart Lock is immediately reachable from afar without additional steps. Your Smart Lock uses the Thread connection with the Smart Home hub to ensure remote access.

Setup with connected Bridge

If you had previously connected your Smart Lock via the Bridge and now want to use Remote Access via your Matter integration, you must first delete the existing Bridge connection. Only by deleting the Bridge connection, the Thread connection can be used instead of the Bridge.
You can delete the existing Bridge connection via the Matter overview screen in your Nuki App:

  1. Open the ”Settings” of your Smart Lock in the Nuki App.
  2. Then select ”Features & Configuration” > ”Smart Home”.
  3. Click on ”Matter” and choose the option ”Delete Bridge connection”.

Once you have deleted the existing Bridge connection in the app, tap on ”Matter” again. Now you can activate Remote Access.
