I have a new smartphone: What do I need to consider?

This article concerns:
  • Smart Lock
  • Opener
  • Smart Door

Simply transfer a backup from your old smartphone to your new one. Alternatively, you can create a lock permission for your new smartphone. Nuki stores all your data directly on the Nuki device or on your smartphone. This means there are no accounts. An admin user is someone who has lock permission and knows the security code.

Restore smartphone backup

The easiest and fastest option is to restore a backup from your old smartphone to your new one. This transfers all the data stored in the Nuki app. Once the process is complete, the Nuki app on your old smartphone will display a message confirming that you have transferred the permissions.

New lock permission

A) Do you still have your old smartphone?

All you have to do is create a new user under “lock permissions” for your smartphone. Please note that you will need to grant yourself remote access and remember your device's security code to access all areas of the app. Here's how to easily transfer all your data and copy your admin and lock permissions to a new smartphone. You can then delete the permission for the old smartphone.

B) Do you no longer have access to your old smartphone?

Does another person have lock permission for your door? Simply ask this person to grant you a lock permission.

You can also connect to the Nuki device via Bluetooth. Download the Nuki App. Select “Set up device” and choose the desired device. Then, follow the instructions in the app. You may need the device's security code to establish the Bluetooth connection.

All the device settings in the section “Features & Configuration”, the lock permissions, and your device's activity log remain. They are stored directly on the Nuki device, not on the phone. The configuration is preserved if you want to use a new smartphone.
