Your security is our highest priority. This also applies to the Keypad, of course. Bluetooth communication between the Keypad and the Nuki device is encrypted end-to-end and based on digital keys consisting of randomly generated, anonymous ID numbers.
In addition, various security features are available to maximize safety when using the Keypad:
Security code
During the initial setup of the Keypad you have to define a 6-digit security code.
Entering the security code is required whenever you want to manage your Keypad or connect another Nuki device to the Keypad. The secure code therefore protects your Keypad from unauthorized access and theft.
You cannot manage or reset your Keypad without entering the security code. Since the code is only stored on your Keypad, make a note of it so that you can manage your Keypad at any time.
Wrong Keypad entry code or fingerprint
When you use the Keypad, the code or fingerprint you use is checked against the stored one. We keep you informed if someone entered a wrong Keypad entry code or used the wrong fingerprint.
Activity Log
The activity log records every action performed on the Nuki device. In addition to the exact time of an action, the activity log displays which user unlocked the door.
When using the Keypad, the entry code entered or fingerprint used is always compared to the one stored on the Nuki device. If they do not match, the incorrect entry is noted in the Nuki app's activity log. This allows you to track any incorrect codes or fingerprints used.
Warnings
Nuki can send you notifications when a wrong entry code or fingerprint is used. To activate these warnings, follow these steps:
- Open your Nuki App and tap on the Nuki device that is connected to your Keypad.
- Enter the settings and select “Features & Configuration” > “Notifications”.
- Log in with your Nuki Web account. If you don’t have a Nuki Web account yet, activate Nuki Web in just a few steps.
- Activate Warnings.
Protection against systematic code spying
To provide additional protection against systematic code spying, there will be a timeout for re-entering a code after a defined number of incorrect entries.
The following timeout duration is defined for incorrect Keypad code entries:
- Five or more incorrect code entries: Timeout of 30 seconds
- 15 or more incorrect code entries: Timeout of 3 minutes
- 50 or more incorrect code entries: Timeout of 30 minutes
