Help for Opener installation with digital systems

Tips for troubleshooting “Ring To Open” or “Open” issues: If you encounter problems during or after the configuration of the Nuki Opener, we recommend the following troubleshooting steps:

Nuki App and firmware update

Make sure that the Nuki App as well as the Nuki Opener are updated. An up-to-date firmware and app not only ensure the full functionality of your Nuki products but also guarantee maximum security.

Opening delay

Select your Nuki Opener in the Nuki App and tap on “Settings”. Open the section "Features & Configuration" and set the opening delay to three seconds or higher.

Tips on how to do the wiring

Please check or redo the wiring. Simply start the set-up process for your Opener again using the Nuki App. Click on the menu on the top left corner and enter “Manage device” > “Opener”.

Important notes on changes to the wiring

Please unplug the flat ribbon cable from the Opener if you are performing any modifications on the wiring and go back to the original wiring of your intercom before you reconnect the cables.
Do not plug the flat ribbon cable back into the Opener before reconnecting the cables according to the instructions. This is necessary to prevent damage to your intercom.
Any modification on the intercom is at your own risk. Nuki cannot offer compensation in case of any damages.

Basic wiring with digital systems

With the basic wiring, you can use all the features of the Nuki Opener. Only the ring suppression is not supported.

Please follow these instructions:

  1. Start from the original wiring before you have connected the Opener.
  2. Just connect the black wire of the Opener (in addition to the wire of the system) to position **b** (Bus-).
  3. Connect the red wire of the Opener (in addition to the wire of the system) to position **a** (Bus+).
  4. Please don't perform further changes. Do neither remove any wires or use the other wires of the Opener nor the extra connector block you received with your Opener.
  5. Now redo the configuration with the Nuki App.

Basic wiring setup digital Intercoms: Black cable = Bus minus, red cable = Bus plus, Orange cable = Bus plus (optional)

Unknown polarity of digital intercoms

If you do not recognize the polarity of your intercom system, there are two possible connection options:

  • Connection variant 1
Remove the cable from BUS (1). Clamp it with the yellow and red wire of the Opener in the extra connector block that came with your delivery.
Then, place the orange and green wire of the Opener in the connector of the system, which has now become free.
The cable in BUS (2) stays connected. Simply clamp the black wire of the Opener in here.
If a message stating that the wiring is not correct appears at the beginning of the configuration, try connection variant 2.
  • Connection variant 2
Remove the cable from BUS (2). Clamp it with the yellow and red wire of the Opener in the extra connector block that came with your delivery.
Then, place the orange and green wire of the Opener in the connector of the system, which has now become free.
The cable in BUS (1) stays connected. Simply clamp the black wire of the Opener in here.
