Does the Nuki App show you a "motor blocked" message for your Smart Lock? This means that there is a reason why the motor cannot turn the key or tailpiece to lock and unlock your door. For example, an obstacle can prevent the Smart Lock from turning, such as a stiff door.
You can try these troubleshooting steps:
Quick fix: How to get your Smart Lock out of “motor blocked”
- Try locking and unlocking it using the button or the app.
- Carefully turn the Smart Lock as if you were locking it with your key. Try turning it in both directions. Be careful not to use excessive force, as this could damage it.
- Try pressing the door shut while turning the Smart Lock. Your door may have warped.
- If the Smart Lock won’t turn: Press the small mounting button and remove it from the door. This will release the jammed motor.
In general, we recommend always turning the Smart Lock with care. Never over-turn it or use force to free it from a “motor blocked”. This could damage the Smart Lock.
Check battery level
Check whether the battery of your Smart Lock is sufficiently charged. It is possible that a very low battery no longer has enough power to lock your door.
Check for stiff door
First, try to lock your door manually.
- Can you lock your door without much force? Try to recalibrate your Smart Lock.
- Do you feel resistance when you lock your door manually? Try removing the resistance. It most likely prevents your Smart Lock from turning the key or tailpiece. If you cannot resolve the issue, a professional can adjust your door for you.
