Information saved in a backup

This article concerns:
  • Smart Lock Ultra
  • Smart Lock Pro
  • Smart Lock Go

The Nuki App provides an overview of all the data that is saved in the backup.

Connection

  • Wi-Fi connection
When you create a backup from a Smart Lock with the built-in Wi-Fi module enabled, the Wi-Fi password is securely stored in the backup. When transferring the data to a new Smart Lock, the Wi-Fi module is automatically activated. Therefore, the new Smart Lock automatically connects to your Wi-Fi network.
  • MQTT integration
When you create a backup from a Smart Lock with MQTT integration enabled, the MQTT password is securely stored in the backup. When transferring the data to the new Smart Lock, MQTT is automatically activated. Therefore, the new Smart Lock automatically connects to the MQTT broker.

General configuration

These general settings you've made for your Smart Lock are backed up:

  • Set location and timezone
  • LED & Button settings
  • Selected door fitting
  • Set unlatch duration
  • Defined locking rotation
  • Applied locking optimization

Feature settings

Individual settings of the features you've chosen are saved when creating the backup and can be transferred to the new device.

  • Auto Unlock
  • Smart Notifications
  • Swipe Actions
  • Night Mode
  • Time Scheduling
  • Auto Lock
  • Lock ’n’ Go
Example:

You use the time scheduling feature and have set timers to lock or unlock your door at specific times of the day. These details are saved in the backup, and you can transfer them to a new Smart Lock. This means you no longer have to manually activate this feature or add timers manually for your new Smart Lock.

Information about lock permissions

When creating the backup, information about lock permissions is saved:

  • User list
A backup includes a list of all users of your device. This means that the name and settings of each user are stored. After transferring the data to your new device, these users are not automatically active. With the help of the user list, you can easily invite all or individual users to your device after restoring a backup. Select all or individual users from the list and re-invite them to your new Smart Lock. The re-invited users will receive an invitation and can redeem it within 48 hours.
  • Keypad entry codes and fingerprints
If you have paired a Keypad with your Smart Lock, all entry codes are stored in the backup. The created fingerprints are stored directly on the Keypad 2.
Please ensure that you have an active internet connection throughout the entire backup process. This ensures that Keypad 2 has the latest firmware installed that supports fingerprint transfer.
Then proceed to the next point:
  • Easy pairing of Nuki accessories
Also included in a backup is information about whether your Smart Lock is paired with a Keypad, a Door Sensor or a Fob. After transferring the data to your new Smart Lock, you can then pair the respective Nuki accessories directly through the app.
