How Nuki locks and unlocks your door

This guide details the locking and unlocking actions that your Nuki device can perform. Additionally, you will find information on how to modify these actions.

With the Smart Lock or Smart Door

Lock: locks your door by operating the deadbolt. Depending on your preferences, your Nuki device locks once (360°) or twice (720°).
Unlock: unlocks your door by operating the deadbolt. You then have to press the handle (and thus pull the latch) to open your door.
Open door: Nuki not only unlocks your door, but also pulls the latch. Your door is now open and you can enter immediately.
Lock’n’Go: Nuki unlocks your door (if it was locked) and then automatically locks it again. See Lock’n’Go details.

Unlock or Open door?

Whether Nuki unlocks or also opens the door depends on your door handle on the outside: If you select “ handle,” Nuki unlocks the door. You then press the handle to open your door. If you have a knob or bar on the outside, Nuki also pulls the latch (“open door”) so that you can enter your home.

You can also customize the door handle selection: Open the Nuki app and tap on the desired device. Go to “Settings” > “Features & Configuration” > “General” > “Choose door fitting”.

With the Opener

With the Opener, you can open the door of your apartment building via the intercom. The following locking actions are possible:

Open: The Opener activates the buzzer on your front door to open it.
Ring to Open: As soon as someone rings the bell, the Opener activates the buzzer on your door to open it.

Advanced settings

Would you like to change if the door is unlocked or opened?

Nuki automatically selects the matching locking action for your door handle. Would you still like to change this? It's easy to switch between unlocking and opening the door using the Nuki App:

Keypad 2: Tap the device your Keypad is connected to. Then go to: “Settings” > “Keypad” > “Settings” > “Locking action” > “Entry code/fingerprint.”
Keypad 1: Tap the device your Keypad is connected to. Then go to: “Settings” > “Keypad” > “Settings” > “Advanced device settings” > follow the app instructions > “Locking action”.
Swipe Actions: Tap the device. Then go to: “Settings” > “Swipe actions”.
Auto Unlock: Tap the device. Then go to: “Settings” > “Auto Unlock” > “Expert settings” > “Device found”
Swipe up for additional actions: In the Nuki app, tap your device to see the lock and unlock buttons. Swipe the buttons upwards to access all other actions.

Would you like to adjust the unlatch duration of your latch?

Simply tap on your device. Then go to “Settings” > “Features & Configuration” > “General” > “Unlatch duration”.
